Science and business
In recent years, attractive space, real estate and infrastructure options for innovative and knowledge-based companies in the immediate vicinity of university campuses have been developed in Hannover.
Science Area 30X
One example is the "Science Area 30X" , the former science and technology park in Hannover-Marienwerder, where Faurecia's innovation center and the Technopark have been located over the past three years. The second part of the Hannoverimpuls Technology Center and the Lower Saxony Chimney Sweep School have also been added. They all complement the scientific institutions that have long been present at the site, such as the Laser Center Hannover (LZH) and the Institute for Integrated Production (IPH). And the development continues: the OPTICUM, a research building by Leibniz Universität costing around 89 million euros with numerous large-scale devices, test halls and laboratories for the various disciplines of optical technologies, is currently being built on the site.
ONETech Campus
North of Science Area 30X, Leibniz University's new mechanical engineering campus was launched in Garbsen in 2020. The ONETech Campus is being planned there, which will offer further highly attractive space for technology-oriented companies, start-ups and university-related uses in the immediate vicinity of the mechanical engineering institutes. The entire Garbsen/Marienwerder technology cluster with its numerous companies and research institutions is therefore one of the strongest locations of its kind in Germany.
Other important locations for exciting cooperation projects between business and science can be found around the Medical Park and Hannover Medical School, in the Expo Park or around the locations of the regional universities.
