Hanover Region Continuing Education Award
Winners 2026
The award and prize money totaling €10,000 went to a consortium of three continuing education providers:
- Berufsfortbildungswerk (bfw) non-profit educational institution of the DGB GmbH
- Grone-Schulen Lower Saxony GmbH – non-profit
- SBH Nordost GmbH
As part of the Hannover Skilled Workers Alliance, the regioLab+ service center announced the winnersof the 2026 Continuing Education Award. The aim is to strengthen partial qualifications (TQ) in SMEs and efficiently meet the demand for skilled workers. The award went to the new TQ for "Plant Mechanics*in Sanitary, Heating, and Air Conditioning Technology," which is being offered in the region for the first time. Three educational institutions are working together cooperatively for the first time to achieve this. The measure will start in October 2026.
Aim of the competition
The innovation competition increased the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Hanover region and their employees in partial qualifications.
The competition sought innovative, vocational qualification-oriented TQ concepts that could be implemented for several occupations in cross-institutional cooperation:
- IHK: Office clerks, retail clerks, warehouse logistics specialists, machine and plant operators, electronics technicians – industrial engineering and industrial electricians
- HWK: Electronics technician specializing in energy and building technology, plant mechanic for sanitary, heating, and air conditioning technology)
The aim was not to develop new partial qualification modules, but to implement the concepts in accordance with IHK (https://chance-tq.de/tq-berufe/) and HWK standards (https://tqhw.de/).
Important factors in the assessment of the overall concept were , above all, the possibility of flexible implementation (in terms of time and methodology), the integration of language support where necessary, and additional elements such as support during the in-company phase.
Prize money and award
The Hanover Region, Economic and Employment Promotion, provided prize money of EUR 10,000. This is to be used to have the measure certified, if necessary. If the certification costs are lower than expected, the remaining funds will be used for marketing purposes for the new measure. A simple proof of use must be provided. The winners were honored in a public ceremony.
Selection
The submitted concepts were evaluated by a jury consisting of members of the Hannover Region and the competition's cooperation partners. The winners were then announced.
