Careers for life - career guidance in the care sector

The "VOCATIONS for life" project aims to interest pupils from year 8/9 onwards in training to become a nursing specialist, socio-educational assistant, nursery teacher or curative education nurse and to show them the tasks and requirements, but also the opportunities and prospects in these professional fields. In cooperation with healthcare facilities, daycare providers, facilities for the integration and care of people with disabilities and the relevant (vocational) colleges, trainees are trained as training ambassadors and placed in schools. At training fairs or during classroom visits, they provide information about their profession, share their personal experiences and engage in an open exchange with young people through practical tasks. In addition, action days are offered for training in the care sector, where interested young people can gain a practical insight into several healthcare facilities. For career guidance in the educational professions, information days or visits to (vocational) colleges and practical facilities are organized, for example, and career-related practical tasks are developed for use at training fairs or in career guidance lessons.

In addition to information on the training courses, opportunities for schools and practice partners to use and participate, as well as information on vocational schools and practice partners in the Hannover Region, the project website www.berufe-fuers-leben.de also offers a toolbox with many of the developed working materials, checklists and practical tasks for career orientation for free download.

The project is funded by the Hannover Region and the Hannover Employment Agency.
