Diversity in local communities
ZUKUNFT braucht VIELFALT – The economic development initiative aims to strengthen the attitude towards diversity as a factor for innovation, resilience, and skilled labor recruitment and against racism, exclusion, and discrimination in corporate culture, thus highlighting diversity as an important location factor for the future of the Hanover region. The further development of corporate culture in relation to diversity is linked to changes in attitudes and corporate organizational processes.
In order to bring the topic of diversity into sharper focus at companies throughout the Hanover region, individualized events or event series on the topic of diversity can be implemented to meet local business needs.
Consortia of at least three municipalities in the Hanover region and the Hanover region itself are eligible to apply. One municipality acts as the consortium leader, with the other municipalities involved as partners. A maximum of EUR 15,000 is available per consortium.
Application deadline for 2026: April 15, 2026
Funding decision for 2026: April 28, 2026
The target groups for the events are managers and employees of companies and, in some cases, regional municipalities.

- Content on innovation, digitalization, customer loyalty, resilience, and recruiting skilled workers with reference to one or more dimensions of diversity in accordance with the Diversity Charter (i.e., age, ethnic origin & nationality, gender & gender identity, physical & mental abilities, religion & worldview, sexual orientation, and social background)
- Current legal provisions (e.g., AGG, ...)
- Current research and status of focus topics (e.g., unconscious bias, open corporate culture, personality-based skilled worker policy, etc.)
Further details and minimum requirements can be found in the application form. We will be happy to send you this on request.
