Skilled Workforce Monitoring and Transformation—The Job Monitor

From big data analysis of online job postings to local labor market innovations.

In collaboration with the City of Munich, the Hannover Region will further develop the Job Monitor’s regional data analysis into a “Skilled Workforce Monitoring Transformation” over a three-year period. The partners are pursuing the following goals:

Identification of current regional skilled labor needs by occupation and industry in a supraregional comparison
Identification of current skill requirements of regional companies by occupation and industry in a supraregional comparison
- Trend analysis of key changes in job profiles over the past two to three years
- Analysis and comparison of sought-after qualifications and regional training priorities
Derivation of recommendations for action and initiation of measures and projects for companies and regional labor market stakeholders (Hannover Skilled Workforce Alliance) as well as education stakeholders, e.g.,
- Initiating educational innovations for transformation (initial and continuing education)
- Initiation of pilot projects for the regional labor market (partial qualifications for the unemployed and employed workers, career transition pathways for employees at risk of unemployment through continuing education networks, etc.)

Based on the results of the Job Monitor, two to three new educational and labor market initiatives are to be developed each year, to be implemented by the partners of the Skilled Workforce Alliance and educational providers.

Over the course of the project, a regional user community will be established, and the introduction of expert access for in-depth data analysis will be tested. Ideally, the Hannover Region will thus develop into a nationwide model “real-world laboratory” for labor market innovations.
