Economic development in the district

Hannover is one of the most important retail locations in Germany. The retail sector in Hannover is particularly successful in attracting purchasing power from a wider surrounding area. Against this background, the interest groups and tradespeople are particularly important for business development.

The aim of the communities of interest or location communities is to increase identification with the district and thus strengthen local businesses.

There are now around 35 organized communities in Hanover, in which a total of around 1,600 companies from all sectors are active. The voluntary commitment of local entrepreneurs maintains the competitiveness of companies and makes a significant contribution to maintaining an efficient and customer-friendly local supply.

Many activities of the interest groups, such as networks and cooperation projects in the districts, are supported by the Economic Development Agency.
