The workshop content in detail

WS A1 and WS B1 - BO in year 11 - well done.

"What do I do in the BO lesson in year 11?" This is the question asked by those involved in this relatively new lesson at schools. They often try out new ideas and content first. Some of it works well, others are discarded.

In this workshop, we want to collect and share ideas that work well together. We want to fill gaps and create modules that are flexible and easy to use. We want to leave this workshop with results in our hands that we can implement and use directly without any problems.

The workshop is aimed at teachers, BO representatives and sixth form coordinators who want to actively shape the BO lesson at their school.

WS A2 Career start with training - Sek I

After school, your students are spoiled for choice. The multitude of possibilities makes the decision difficult for some. In our workshop, we will introduce you to various apprenticeships and explain which career paths are open to young people with an apprenticeship - including studying without an Abitur on the basis of professional qualifications. We have the most important information and lots of tips ready for you so that you can provide your students with good support when choosing a career.

The focus is on the following questions:

  • What makes dual training attractive?
  • What apprenticeships are there?
  • What career opportunities are available after training and what is a Bachelor Professional?

You will also benefit from the experiences of individual trainees, who will be happy to talk about their everyday life in the company and give you an insight into their training occupation.

WS A3 and B4 Systematically prepare, accompany and document BO offers

In order for potential analyses, workshop days and other measures to be fully effective, pupils need to process their experiences in a communicative way and put what they have learned into context. Reflection talks and counseling settings play a major role in promoting young people's career choice skills and increasing the efficiency of career guidance work.

We discuss

  • the importance and effectiveness of preparation and follow-up and
  • which is a basic competence model for systematized BO in your own school.

We practise together

  • which practical methods are suitable for analog and digital preparation and follow-up, and
  • how feedback and reflection work in the BO using concrete case studies.

The students should document the results of the reflection events in a suitable form. They learn about the possibilities of the (e-)portfolio approach and can try out how this is implemented in the career choice app and other applications.

WS A4 Workshop "The Hannover Region economic area: more than cars and cookies"

If your students can't think of anything more than cars and cookies when asked about large companies and industries in the Hanover region, then come to this workshop.

  • What are the leading and future industries in the Hannover Region?
  • In what form is digitalization also finding its way into the business and working world in the Hannover Region and changing sectors and fields of work?

We will discuss this content with you and present sources of information that you can use in class to introduce the topic.

Representatives from companies that are exemplary for the leading and future-oriented industries in Hanover will discuss with you the professional opportunities for starting a career. They will also be available to initiate practical contacts.

WS A5 Busy as bees - sustainable student companies

  • How do you set up a student company?
  • What skills do students acquire through participation?
  • How can a student company be organized sustainably?
  • What advantages does a school have from a student company?

The focus is on knowledge transfer, mutual understanding and working together towards a common goal - in the spirit of education for sustainable development. This method is illustrated, for example, by the beekeeping company at IGS List in Hanover. Teachers and pupils present their school company and report on their experiences.

WS B2 Career start with apprenticeship or dual/trial studies - Sek II

Training, studying or both at the same time? Studying is not the right choice for all pupils. Successfully completed vocational training is also an excellent foundation and offers the best chances of a challenging job and a wide range of career opportunities. In addition, the dual or trial study program offers a perfect combination of theory and practice. You can find out how you can best guide your students on the path to the right career choice in our workshop, which deals with the following questions:

What makes dual training attractive? What apprenticeships are there that may be of particular interest to high school graduates? How can an apprenticeship be combined with a degree course? What career opportunities are there after training and what is a Bachelor Professional?

You will also benefit from the experiences of individual trainees, who will be happy to talk about their everyday life in the company and give you an insight into their training occupation.

WS B3 The next right step! Really good advice.

General higher education entrance qualification at a vocational grammar school, advanced technical college entrance qualification at a technical college, opportunities in the vocational school system.

Pupils who are interested in a vocational subject from year 10 onwards have alternative options for completing the upper secondary level at a vocational school. For example, Fachoberschulen and vocational grammar schools are aimed at pupils who want to study in this subject area. The workshop teaches you how to advise pupils on alternative educational pathways at a vocational school.

WS B5 Project week "Student company light"

  • Is there an alternative to try out the "Student Company" method?
  • Set up a student company and close it down again if necessary?

The "student company light" concept makes this possible.

In this workshop, you will learn how this works and what prerequisites need to be created for this supplementary module in project-based vocational orientation to be successful.
