World trade in crisis mode: is globalization at an end?

Supply chains became increasingly complex and storage costs were saved through just-in-time delivery. First the coronavirus disrupted global supply chains, now the war in Ukraine is making us ruthlessly aware of our heavy dependence on the global commodity markets. The great openness of the German economy - which is its great strength in good times - is currently proving to be a vulnerability. Does this herald a deglobalization?
Hanover's business development agency hannoverimpuls, the Hanover Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) , Sparkasse Hannover and Unternehmerverbände Niedersachsen e. V. (UVN) are jointly inviting you to a high-profile panel discussion on October 11, 2022 at 4:45 pm (admission 4:30 pm) at Sparkasse Hannover at Raschplatz 4 .
"Deglobalization has been taking place since the global financial crisis in 2008, and the recent crises have only further accelerated this process," says Prof. Dr. Dalia Marin , Austrian economist and professor at the TUM School of Management at the Technical University of Munich . "If we abandon the cooperative path, there is a threat of an immense loss of growth and prosperity," counters Torsten Windels , economist and long-standing chief economist at Norddeutsche Landesbank (NORD/LB).
Together with company representatives from Block Transformatoren-Elektronik GmbH and Jäger Gummi und Kunststoff GmbH , they discuss what a withdrawal of companies from global economic interdependence means. Are we already at the turning point towards a deglobalized world?
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Volker Müller , Managing Director of Unternehmerverbände Niedersachsen e.V.. Following the panel discussion, our guests will have the opportunity for individual networking.
