techfactory Hannover: First Home on Hüttenstraße – “The Start of Something Really Big”
© Tobias WölkiBrightly painted walls, flexible room dividers, functional office furniture, and a sweeping view of Hannover: The techfactory Hannover pop-up office space offers attractive prospects in many ways. After years of planning and development, the Hannover region’s startup and technology center finally has its first home.
At the grand opening at Hüttenstraße 22B in Hannover-Vahrenwald, techfactory CEO Gordon Hünies welcomed numerous guests from the worlds of politics, business, and the startup scene. Melanie Walter (SPD), Lower Saxony’s Minister for Europe and Regional Development at the State Chancellery, spoke in her welcoming remarks of “the beginning of something truly great.”
The immediate neighborhood was also delighted with the new addition: The Initiative Hüttenstraße association occupies the adjacent former freight forwarding warehouses on the industrial site. Among others, young founders have also set up shop there. Through their association, they can take their first steps before moving on to further develop their businesses next door, said Benjamin Grudzinski of the Initiative.
Networking, further development, and support with professional expertise to turn smart ideas and projects into market-ready companies—that’s what techfactory is all about. Three out of four office spaces at its hub have already been leased to young startups from various sectors. These include DiB GmbH, which specializes in drone inspections of interior spaces; Morgenraum, a company focused on urban development; and Kollektiv siebzehn, a creative social agency dedicated to “more harmonious coexistence in public spaces.”
The next major step for techfactory will be moving into the ONE TechCampus Garbsen technology park, where it will be the anchor tenant. Groundbreaking for construction is scheduled for the first half of 2027.

Next to Leibniz University’s Campus Maschinenbau Garbsen (CMG), the ONE TechCampus Garbsen technology park is currently under construction. The site covers approximately 62,000 square meters. The developer is the asto Group, which developed the project in close collaboration with the Hanover Region and the city of Garbsen. Completion of the first phase is scheduled for early 2029. Five versatile production, research, and development buildings are planned. In addition, space for student housing and a parking garage will be created.

Spanning more than 4,600 square meters, it offers space for pioneering spirit: Here, startups and student teams will have the opportunity to develop promising ideas and collaborate with industry representatives to create solutions for manufacturing and small-to-medium-sized businesses. In addition, small and medium-sized enterprises are also expected to set up operations on the site. Plans include office and workshop spaces, flexible meeting and workshop areas, and a “learning arena” for events and conferences.
This is the techfactory Nordstadt

On the grounds of the former Nordstadt Hospital in Hannover’s Nordstadt district, the techfactory Nordstadt is taking shape as a hub for artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and biotechnology. By 2034, all ten hospital buildings that are no longer in use are to be converted into office spaces and laboratories for student entrepreneurs, technology-focused startups, and research-oriented companies.
There is a branch of techfactory Nordstadt on Hüttenstraße in the Hannover-Vahrenwald district. Here, in a pop-up space, usage concepts and technological equipment for the techfactory are tested for implementation at the other locations.
