Digital Health City Hannover launched!

Today, hannoverimpuls Managing Director Doris Petersen, Hanover's Lord Mayor Belit Onay and Regional President Steffen Krach launched the "Digital Health City Hannover" (DHCH) together with numerous partners from the healthcare industry. As a central interface for companies, projects and international players, the aim of DHCH is to create visibility for digital health expertise in Hannover to ensure future-oriented healthcare for patients and economic success for all stakeholders.

"The best life we can live is a healthy life. Digital Health City Hannover is the right answer," said Hannover's Lord Mayor Belit Onay , explaining the ambitious goals of the new Digital Health City Hannover (DHCH) network in the video, which he symbolically launched together with initiator Doris Petersen, Managing Director of hannoverimpuls, and Regional President Steffen Krach for the 130 or so participants at the kick-off in the New Town Hall. "Bringing the topics of digitalization and the healthcare industry together holds enormous potential for the Hannover Region as a business location, but also for the healthcare of the 1.2 million people who live here," added Regional President Steffen Krach. Doris Petersen, idea generator and driver of DHCH , explained why Hannover is ideally placed to lead the way in digital healthcare services in the future: "Hannover is one of the leading locations in Germany when it comes to healthcare. We are characterized by an innovative environment of start-ups, SMEs and large companies. The best conditions for further company start-ups and relocations!"

The hannoverimpuls initiative aims to tackle the challenges and opportunities of digitalization in the healthcare sector through an active, growing digital health ecosystem and the targeted development of innovations and projects with a focus on optimal healthcare for patients. The figures show the potential of the location: Around 76,000 people work here - one in seven employees subject to social insurance contributions - already making the healthcare industry the largest sector . Hanover offers the largest municipal hospital landscape in Germany up to super-maximum care. In the fields of implantation, infection, transplantation and hearing, Hannover is a pioneer in patient-oriented cutting-edge research. At the same time, the rate of digitalization in healthcare is increasing, also in order to improve quality and be more economically successful.

The "Digital Health City Hannover" network with partners such as Hannover Medical School, Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Gesundheitswirtschaft Hannover e. V., BioRegioN, Deutsche Messe AG, WirtschaftsDienst and Digitalagentur Niedersachsen aims to exploit the potential in Hannover through collaboration and to network the players in the healthcare industry even more closely. DHCH is open to new projects and support opportunities and wants to expand the ecosystem nationally and internationally. Anyone who wants to be part of the initiative should definitely talk to the initiators.

The digital health scene in Hanover wants to set international standards through integrative thinking, responsible action and an entrepreneurial spirit of innovation. Because, as all players at the location agree: success is a team effort. That's why the DHCH kick-off event in the New Town Hall with around 130 participants was all about getting to know each other and presenting the existing projects in the digital health sector. In addition to the presentation of all partner projects, three large, high-profile topic clusters focused on the "skills shortage", "telemedicine" and "robotics". In her keynote speech, author, blogger and social media expert Maren Lesche outlined the particular importance of networking for innovation.

In future, DCHC will be the point of contact for many issues - from support in setting up a company, advice on acquiring and applying for funding to the search for cooperation partners. Whether for testing medical innovations and digital processes in the clinical environment, developing business models or networking with the digital health community in Digital Health City Hannover - DCHC provides solutions. And the desire to grow the ecosystem was already successful at the kick-off: Christoph Meinecke, Deputy Managing Director of Unternehmerverbände Niedersachsen e.V. (UVN), announced UVN's interest in a partnership and will organize the next DHCH meeting.

More impressions to follow.
