Family-Friendliness as the Key to Living Diversity

The number of employees with young children has risen significantly in recent years—about a quarter of the workforce, including managers, have children under the age of eight. This trend has not only led to flexible structures but has also had a lasting impact on workplace dynamics. Different life stages, perspectives, and needs are now seen as an asset—in line with a diverse corporate culture.

Flexible Models for Individual Life Circumstances

Whether it’s parental leave, part-time work, or remote work—the IPH offers its employees a wide range of options for balancing family responsibilities with professional development. A particular highlight is the parent-child office, equipped with a changing table, a crib, and a play area: a practical and symbolic measure that demonstrates how seriously the IPH takes the issue of family-friendliness .

The IPH as a Pioneer in Mechanical Engineering

Diversity begins in everyday life—and in the workplace. The Institute for Integrated Production Hannover (IPH) recognized early on that balancing family and career is a central pillar of equal opportunity and a diverse corporate culture. For this commitment, the IPH was honored in 2024 by freundin magazine and FactField GmbH as one of Germany’s most family-friendly companies—taking third place in the “Mechanical Engineering” category.
