Hanover Region Apprenticeship Initiative
© AdobeStock_1095167579_imagentiveThe Training Initiative supports the preservation and expansion of apprenticeship positions in the region. The project is aimed specifically at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and offers needs-based measures for recruiting young talent, including local apprenticeship marketing and various matching formats. Another focus is on improving the quality of vocational training, for example, to prevent apprentices from dropping out.
In addition, the project strengthens career guidance for young people transitioning from school to the workforce. It promotes collaboration among schools, companies, and other stakeholders in this field to enable young people to make a well-informed start in vocational training.
Services include active, ongoing, and individualized counseling and support for small and medium-sized enterprises on training issues through External Training Management (EXAM) in cooperation with the Hannover Region, as well as the promotion of the Azubi21 training platform.
An important part of the work involves maintaining, developing, and supporting local apprenticeship networks in the member municipalities through networking opportunities in the form of regular, at least annual events—such as apprenticeship breakfasts—designed to facilitate professional exchange and strengthen collaboration in recruiting local talent. Together with local stakeholders, appropriate matching formats are (further) developed and implemented, e.g., apprenticeship fairs, speed dating events, career fair tours, and similar initiatives.
A newly added project goal is the systematic improvement of the transition from vocational school to an apprenticeship. With the introduction of the dual vocational school model, an additional internship is intended to help students set the right career course early on. This requires new forms of school-business collaboration, for which the project aims to develop and implement specific matching formats that include pre- and post-support for the companies.
