Apprentice Talks

At #bestjobever, young people experience career guidance in a hands-on and up-close way—through authentic live talks with apprentices

What’s it all about?

#bestjobever was launched in 2020 as an online event during the COVID-19 pandemic and has continued successfully over the past few years. The format has been continuously refined to provide young people with career guidance tailored to their needs.

Under the motto “let’s talk live!”, we’ve been visiting schools in the Hanover region with our Apprentice Talks since 2024. Students get to talk directly with apprentices from various industries, gain authentic insights into everyday life as an apprentice, and experience career guidance firsthand.

Apprentices present their apprenticeship programs or dual study programs, as well as their companies. At least two professions from different industries are featured per session. Students can ask questions and are actively engaged.

This is followed by hands-on activities that we develop together with the apprentices. This gives the young people a realistic insight into the professions presented. In addition, we address topics such as the FSJ (voluntary social year) or trial study programs—with support from the career counseling services of the Federal Employment Agency.

A unique feature of #bestjobever is the diversity of career profiles. With each talk, we reach at least 50 students and show them concrete prospects for life after high school.

Here’s what students had to say when asked what they took away from the apprentice talks:

"I thought it was great that I’ve now learned about careers I wasn’t even interested in before.
You don’t need a perfect degree for everything.
[…], that you should enjoy your job, that you don’t necessarily have to go to college, and that you should try different things out."
