10 years of HALLE 96: The center for creative people on the Hanomag site celebrates its birthday!
For almost 30 years, the former Hanomag site in Linden-Süd was a huge industrial wasteland until the Munich-based investor DIBAG Industriebau AG took the lead in revitalizing it and turned it into one of the most modern commercial and residential districts in the capital of Lower Saxony.
HALLE 96 by hannoverimpuls was completed ten years ago as part of the new development and has since become the center of Hanover's creative community. The first tenants were able to move in here in May 2012 - also thanks to the generous financial support of DIBAG. With around 3,000 square meters of space, 83 offices, seven workshops and conference rooms, start-ups, young and existing companies from the creative industries have found space to develop their business ideas here for ten years now.
From the very beginning, the aim was to motivate founders to set up their own company, to get them excited about the location and to network the players in the regional economy. "I've been a tenant here for three years with my company, embr innovations GmbH, and I love the location," says Lena Kornau, confirming the success of HALLE 96. "Whenever I need support with the further development of my Embr app, which I use to network with others for joint leisure activities, there's always a creative neighbor with the right impetus."
This is the success story of HALLE 96: subsidized rents, free use of conference and meeting rooms, kitchenettes on every floor, start-up and funding advice and, above all, the creative community make it easier to get your business off the ground. In May of this year, the 126th company moved in. And more are set to follow. Space (offices and workshops) is currently available to rent again.contact
"As a freelance photographer, I found exactly the right setting in HALLE 96 in 2012 to build up and expand my portfolio and my company, Fokuspokus GmbH," reports Patrice Kunte. Just a few months ago, he moved his film and photo agency within Hanover because the growing company needed more space.
On average, companies stay in HALLE 96 for around three years, after which they often expand just like Fokuspokus. The music, book, art, film, broadcasting, design and architecture industries, the press and advertising market, the software and games industry and the performing arts: eleven sectors make up the heterogeneous and small-scale creative industries. Anyone starting up a business in this sector or who founded a business five years ago or less and wants to benefit from the creative environment in HALLE 96 can apply here with a brief company profile. In order to sustainably support the potential of the creative industries, hannoverimpuls works intensively to support creative people in their start-up projects, to secure existing jobs and to shape the framework conditions in such a way that the creative people in the region can live and work well here.
"HALLE 96 is an important building block in hannoverimpuls' portfolio," explains Doris Petersen, Managing Director of hannoverimpuls. "When we think of the cultural and creative industries in the Hannover Region, we are talking about 25,000 people in around 4,700 companies and many self-employed people. The creative industries in the Hannover Region generate a turnover of around 2.7 billion euros. In terms of content, the sector is of particular importance, as a strong creative and cultural scene also has a positive impact on other sectors and the location as a whole.
It contributes significantly to the feel-good factor and a modern image," says Doris Petersen, outlining the special features of the sector. Since 2012, the kreHtiv Netzwerk Hannover e. V., initiated by hannoverimpuls, has also found the ideal environment to develop, network and take off with the opening of HALLE 96. The industry's mouthpiece has its office in the creative hall and, as an association, intends to continue to promote the networking of the cultural and creative scene and pool expertise in the future. Ten years of HALLE 96 are more than just a creative breeding ground and an attractive location for creative minds.
HALLE 96 has also ensured that Hanover is taken seriously as a creative location nationwide. Naturally, this will be celebrated in a big way in the summer, with the party taking place on July 8. Information will follow soon on this page.
