Another Digital Health City Hannover project launched: Norwegian digital health startup Flow Technologies supports Klinikum Wahrendorff in patient follow-up care

Klinikum Wahrendorff has been a specialist hospital for the soul for 150 years. At the day clinic for men in Sehnde-Ilten, the experts help people with anxiety disorders, depression or burnout. Outpatient follow-up care is essential to ensure the success of the therapy. The patient retention platform Flowzone from Flow Technologies now provides support in this area. With its digital offering, the Norwegian digital health start-up aims to help patients manage their everyday lives and communicate with nurses and doctors. Flowzone is another project within the framework of Digital Health City Hannover.

It is essential for the long-term success of therapy that patients apply the techniques and skills acquired during therapy - otherwise there is a risk of relapse. The end of an inpatient stay for depression or anxiety disorders, for example, should not leave people with the feeling that they have been thrown into the void without a parachute. The "Flowzone" platform now closes the gap that patients feel between care in hospital and everyday life at home. "We expect a significant improvement here. Our teams are highly motivated to work with the new technologies in order to improve the quality of life of patients in all continuity," saysProf.Dr. Marc Ziegenbein, Medical Director and Chief Physician at Klinikum Wahrendorff, describing the benefits.

The Flowzone platform can be used on all digital platforms, smartphones, tablets and the web and offers a chat function with messages, photos and videos, digital training plans, offers for individual and group discussions as well as virtualreality (VR) therapies tailored to the patient. The aim is to provide patients with even better care than before during and after treatment by combining additional digital services with new technologies. The offer gives patients security - and thus more empowerment to actively participate in their recovery.

At Klinikum Wahrendorff, Flow Technologies' technology will be used for the first time in a psychiatric setting at the men's day hospital. "We are delighted to be working with Wahrendorff to introduce Flowzone in the psychiatric setting and expand the functionality of our platform," said CharlesMichelson, CEO of Flow Technologies, about the collaboration. Founded in 2020, the Norwegian digital health startup aims to provide patients with low-threshold access to personalized care from healthcare professionals and coaches via its digital communication platform.

The founders CharlesMichelson and Anders Bjornby cameto Hanover with employees from Oslo for the joint project launch with the Wahrendorff employees. The necessary technical equipment and software acquisition at the Wahrendorff Clinic, which cost around 100,000 euros, is80 percent fundedby theLower Saxony Ministry for Social Affairs, Health and Equality with the support of thehannoverimpulsbusiness development agency.

In addition to the collaboration with the Klinikum Wahrendorff, there is also a cooperation with the cardiothoracic vascular surgery department at the MHH. Here, the app is to be used in the aftercare of cardiology patients.

The introduction of Flowzone at Klinikum Wahrendorff is another project within the framework of Digital Health City Hannover, alongside very successful formats such as the Digital Health Talk Hannover, the Digital Health Masterclass and a meetup planned for November 9th. Since the start of the initiative, the digital health ecosystem has been continuously growing with partners and new projects.
