Techfactory

The Techfactory attracts start-ups, companies and bright minds who want to shape the future. As a central location for innovation, it promotes sustainable developments and strengthens the regional innovation ecosystem.
The Techfactory provides space and resources for founders and the growth of deep tech start-ups. This is where talent and science network with companies that benefit from fresh impetus.
Location: Garbsen

Techfactory Hannover Garbsen is embedded in the planned ONE TechCampus technology park in Garbsen. It is a central component of the Hannover Region's innovation strategy. Six buildings with a total gross floor area of 62,000 square meters are planned on a plot of over 4 hectares in the immediate vicinity of the mechanical engineering campus of Leibniz Universität Hannover.
The Techfactory will occupy around 4,600 m2 in the first building, marking the start of the development of the entire site. The plans include an incubator for start-ups and student teams, office and workshop space for collaborations between science and business, flexible meeting and workshop areas, a co-working area and a "learning arena" for events and conferences. In addition, there will be a makerspace and learning factories as well as a café to encourage interaction between tenants, employees, scientists and students. Construction will start in spring 2026 - so that we can move into the Techfactory at the end of 2027.
A further five buildings will be built in stages: technology-related companies and service providers, research and development departments of corporations and SMEs as well as non-university research institutions will settle here. Additional flex offices and coworking areas as well as student accommodation are also planned to accommodate young talent in particular as well as employees from start-ups and cooperating companies. This will create a diverse, vibrant and growth-oriented environment that will strengthen the innovative power of the entire region.
Location: Nordstadt
Together with Leibniz Universität Hannover and the state capital of Hannover, the Hannover Region is developing a new technology campus on the grounds of Klinikum Region Hannover in Nordstadt. The regional assembly passed a resolution to this effect on Tuesday. The "Techfactory Nordstadt" project will create an innovation location in the immediate vicinity of the university's main campus with a focus on natural sciences, computer science and electrical engineering - particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and biotechnology.
The first hospital buildings, which will be vacated as part of the Hannover Region Hospital's Medical Strategy 2030, could be put to new use as early as the end of 2026. All ten buildings no longer required on the approximately 25,000 square meter site are expected to be integrated into the TechFactory by 2034.
The aim of the project is to offer technology-oriented start-ups, spin-offs from the university and research-related companies space for development, cooperation and growth. Affordable student accommodation is also part of the concept. The overall package is highly attractive, especially for young founders, as the great location allows them to use the university infrastructure and stay in contact with academia. Laboratories, offices and catering facilities are also planned.
