When it comes to innovation, many people initially think of additional new functions and technical refinements. However, concepts that focus on simplification, reduction and affordability can also conquer new markets. Such so-called frugal innovations are in vogue.
On 17.06.21 from 15:00-16:00, our webinar series innovativ jetzt willfocuson the topic of "Frugal innovations: Tapping into new markets through Smart Simplicity".
First, Ms. Liza Wohlfart from Fraunhofer IAO will introduce you to the topic and present the principles and advantages of frugal innovations. She will use prominent examples of successful innovators such as Siemens, Bosch, Claas and Accor to show that rethinking towards "less is more" can pay off.
Prof. Gunnar Spellmeyer, a product designer at Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, will also report on his practical experience in developing a frugal product.
Finally, Prof. Liefner from the Leibniz University of Hanover will show which aspects a frugal product design has to take into account and how the degree of "frugality" of a product can be measured. The Factor of Frugality thus illustrates, among other things, where the competitive advantages of frugal innovations come from and why they are essential for the transition to a resource-saving economy.
