Startup-Impuls start-up competition: High prize money and the start of many success stories

The race for the coveted awards is on again: From now on, start-up teams can apply for the 21st round of the Startup-Impuls start-up competition organized by hannoverimpuls and Sparkasse Hannover. Over the past 20 years, non-cash and cash prizes worth over 1.5 million euros have been distributed and 50 start-ups have been awarded in various prize categories. Participating teams look forward to the award ceremony in March 2024 not only because of the high prize money - this is where success stories start.

AEuropean market leader for tracking technology in tennis (Wingfield), one of the B2B platforms with the widest reach in the digital sector (t3n) and a whistleblower for cosmetic products (BeSure) - these three companies have one thing in common: their entrepreneurial story began with their application to the Startup-Impuls start-up competition organized by hannoverimpuls and Sparkasse Hannover, where start-ups can apply again for the next round with their business ideas from now until January 7 next year. Coveted nominations and prizes worth more than 100,000 euros await participants in the 21st competition. Participation is free of charge and open to founders from all sectors. The only condition: The idea must be realized in the Hannover Region.

The companies Wingfield and t3n, which are now successful on the market, once presented their ideas here for the first time. Fenja Böke, Eva Seyrich and Carolin Beck, the team behind BeSure, which uses its algorithm to decode the ingredients of all care products in Germany, only won the "Team-Start" award and 25,000 euros in prize money last year, but they too have been working on their success story ever since and are currently in the Hafven Impact Accelerator #batch9. The accelerator provides intensive support to start-ups with a sustainable and innovative vision in order to further sharpen their offering. Incidentally, another winner from the previous year is also receiving further support in the Hanover start-up ecosystem: Linda Büscher, who won the Solo-Start prize for best founder with her app Bulletpoint, was subsequently a participant in Batch#13 of the VentureVilla. She invested her prize money of 25,000 euros at Startup Impuls in the further development of her app, which offers an efficient and quick solution to better understand and summarize texts.

"The awards at the Startup-Impuls start-up competition are often exactly the tailwind that teams need to really dare to turn their idea into an entrepreneurial concept," explains host DorisPetersen, Managing Director of hannoverimpuls. The Startup-Impuls start-up competition, which is open to all sectors, offers those interested in founding a company the opportunity to test their business idea for marketability and develop it into a business concept. With the help of a preparatory advisory program and personal start-up coaching, applicants are set on the path to self-employment: The founders benefit from the know-how of experienced consultants and experts. The Startup-Impuls start-up competition takes the idea to the concept stage, to the award ceremony and onto the market.

"Thousands of jobs in the Hannover Region can be traced back to the Startup-Impuls competition, which is a huge success story - for our economic region, but also for us as Sparkasse Hannover. We have been a major sponsor of this competition, which is unique in Germany, since its inception, because supporting founders has always been one of our most important tasks," adds MarinaBarth, Deputy Chairwoman of the Management Board of Sparkasse Hannover.

Prize money of more than 100,000 euros in three categories awaits the participants again in 2024. The"Team Start"prize is worth 25,000 euros. The idea should have international potential.

The"Solo Start"prize is awarded to founders who have started up alone or want to do so. In this case, solo refers to the number of founders - not the number of employees. The "best female founder" and the "best male founder" each receive 25,000 euros.

The"Hochschul-Start"prize supported by Gehrke Econ is primarily aimed at start-up projects at an early idea stage by students, institutes and departments of universities and universities of applied sciences, non-university research institutions and academic staff in the Hannover region. This prize is also endowed with 25,000 euros in prize money, as well as individual consulting services worth around 8,000 euros, which are provided by Gehrke Econ.

All nominated teams and solo starters will also be rewarded with a professional image clip for their company and extensive pitch training worth a total of 1,500 euros each. In addition, all winners will receive a six-month resident membership and nominees a six-month community membership of cooperation partner Hafven.
