Transformation network
Automotive supply industry

- What does it take to make the automotive supplier industry future-proof and sustainable?
- What networks are necessary for this - and how should they be structured in the Hannover Region?
The Hannover Region's Economic and Employment Promotion Agency has addressed these issues and, in close cooperation with hannoverimpuls GmbH, IG Metall, Niedersachsenmetall, Leibniz University and Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, has developed a concept that links as many local partners as possible.
The common goal: the development of climate-friendly drives, sustainable process and supply chains, more cost-effective, environmentally friendly and resource-saving production and new digitally supported user experiences and business models.
Under the name Transformation Network Automotive Supplier Industry, the Hannover Region submitted the project outline to the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Development in mid-October and has now received the first positive signals. The outline was convincing, so that the Hannover Region can now take the next step and submit the official project application. Up to 4 million euros for three and a half years have been promised as funding for personnel and material costs.
Regional President Steffen Krach:
"The Hannover Region is also an outstanding business location. We have strong companies here, particularly in the automotive supply sector. With their established structures, Hanover and the surrounding area are enormously important for Germany as a whole as an automotive location. We are a number 1 region here - this is also demonstrated by examples such as these. One thing is clear: the federal government's funding would be very well invested here."
Ulf-Birger Franz, Head of Economic Affairs:
"As the Hannover Region's business development agency, our core task is to support small and medium-sized enterprises in positioning themselves well for the future. New drive systems and climate-neutral production are major challenges for the industry. It is also about discovering potential skilled workers and supporting them. We are delighted that the federal government is supporting our project."
