Global events, such as the coronavirus pandemic, are affecting the stability and reliability of supply chains. At the same time, society's desire for more environmentally sustainable products and processes is increasing.
In order to meet both challenges and maintain their own competitiveness, manufacturing companies need new technologies. One of these technologies is 3D printingor additive manufacturing. This enables the local production of spare parts and the processing of bio- or recyclate-based materials. Whether rubber, plastic or metal - the number of economically viable applications is constantly increasing.
Against this backdrop, the Hannover Region's Economic and Employment Promotion Agency and the Institute of Transportand Automation Technology atLeibniz Universität Hannover will be presentingthe latestdevelopments in the field of additive manufacturing atTech-Meetup#1.
Participants will learn about the extent to which different materials, such as natural rubbers, thermoplastics and metals, can be processed locally into the required products using 3D printing. Specific project reports will illustrate the current opportunities and previous obstacles. A tour of the test field at the Institute of Transport and Automation Technology will round off the event.
