VR basic course: getting started with VR, getting to know virtual worlds, viewing them and exploring their potential for teaching

Come along and try out virtual reality (VR)? It's possible at VRECH! VRECH (which stands for virtual reality education center hanover, read as "cheeky") is the first VR education center in Lower Saxony to focus specifically on the use of immersive technologies in education. The target groups are primarily (vocational) schools, but also training companies in the Hanover region and throughout Lower Saxony.
It was founded in May 2022 on the initiative of the Hannover Region by the Media Center, the Economic Development Agency and the Schools Department. It has found its home at the Hannover Region's MultiMedia vocational schools in Laatzen. It is supported by the NLQ and the Lower Saxony Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs.

Virtual reality is seen as a future technology with great potential for education. But what is this potential? How does VR actually work, what can I do with it and what technology is required? We want to get to the bottom of these and other questions.

Virtual reality is seen as a future technology with great potential for education. But what is this potential? How does VR actually work, what can I do with it and what technology is required? We want to get to the bottom of these and other questions.

In the basic course, the theoretical foundations for the use of VR will be presented in the form of a short lecture.

Afterwards, the focus is on the VR EXPERIENCE. We enter VR, try it out and get to know the controls. After some reflection, we move on to SERIOUS VR. We explore the possible applications as a collaboration and cooperation tool and try out the advantages and disadvantages of the approach together. The third part is either about the potential that the VIL trolley offers us or, if the VIL trolley is not available, about FUN VR (fun with games in VR). The VIL trolley is a complete classroom solution for VR in the classroom.

The level is for beginners. The training is aimed at participants who either have little or no experience with VR.

The training is free of charge. Travel costs are not covered and must be paid by the participants themselves or via the school.

The VRECH is located in the studio of the Multimedia BBS, from the main entrance left down the stairs to the basement and follow the signs.
