During the lockdown, many hotels and restaurants were no longer able to offer their employees employment. Many skilled workers have switched careers to other areas of work. After the pandemic, however, the industry will face an even greater shortage of skilled workers than it already had before coronavirus.

The targeted recruitment of international skilled workers could therefore alleviate the tense staffing situation in hotels and restaurants. With the entry into force of the Skilled Immigration Act in 2020, the entry conditions for qualified skilled workers from non-EU countries were made significantly easier, but how do you get the skilled workers?

Together with the Hanover Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the IQ Network Lower Saxony, we want to explain the legal framework for recruiting skilled workers from non-EU countries to hotel and catering businesses in the Hanover region and discuss possible ways of joint recruitment.
