Cultural diversity in teams is now part of everyday life in almost all areas of today's working world. Used correctly, this diversity can be a great advantage, but it is also where most of the pitfalls and potential for conflict are hidden. This poses a particular challenge for managers at all levels of management. They increasingly need intercultural competence in order to fulfill their disciplinary and professional management tasks.
In three modules of our intercultural training course "Understanding international employees better", you will learn how to prevent misunderstandings in communication and counteract the development of conflicts. You will also receive valuable tips on managing and retaining foreign employees.
Part 1: Communication and rules
Monday, 03.06.2024 9:00-12:30 a.m.
Communication is not only the key to resolving many conflicts, but also the biggest driver of conflict and a source of misunderstandings.
In this part of the training, you will put yourself in the shoes of the new foreign specialists through your own experience. We will look at the different types and styles of communication and learn that the focus and styles of communication in different cultures differ greatly from our own. We will also look at the topic of (corporate) culture together and work on preventing challenges in everyday life.
Part 2: Perception and culture
Monday, 10.06.2024 9:00-12:30 a.m.
In a complex environment, we act according to learned patterns and perceive the world through our own cultural lens.
In this workshop, the topic of perception and culture becomes tangible. You will learn how to view situations that you experience in everyday life with foreign specialists with this background knowledge and thus prevent misunderstandings due to misinterpretations. We will also address the issue of culture shock and work out how we can counteract this in order to make it easier for foreign professionals to settle into a new environment.
Part 3: Intercultural conflicts
Wednesday, 12.06.2024 9:00-12:30 a.m.
The meeting of people from different cultural backgrounds is not always conflict-free.
While the first two workshops in this series are aimed at preventing conflicts, this part of the workshop will focus on how we can recognize conflicts that have already arisen and their causes, and what solutions can be found.
For this training series, we were once again able to win over Ms. Vanessa Geruschkat. She is a certified intercultural trainer and her main job is to support the recruitment and integration of foreign specialists in a large company. She incorporates the experience and practical examples she has gained from this into her training courses.
